Jo Daviess County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm live custody, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. The Sheriff, city police department, court, corrections agency, or federal office that owns the record must answer those questions.

Need a Sheriff or Jail Record?

The county’s public jail page gives operational information, while the Sheriff page and FOIA posting give the formal records route. The Circuit Clerk handles a later court-record stage. Call before visiting because hours, providers, and procedures can change.

Jail visiting information

Jail and Inmate Information

Visits are listed Sunday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call on the visit day to schedule with the on-duty correctional officer.

The FOIA posting does not state separate records-office hours. Confirm by phone.

For an emailed FOIA request, the county policy says to place the request in the message body. An attachment alone is not processed until the request is resubmitted in the body.

  • For a booking record or possible booking photo, use the county records and search path and the Sheriff FOIA route.
  • For a possible warrant or wanted notice, use the official Sheriff and court alternatives described on Most Wanted. Do not approach a person.
  • For a reported arrest or current county source, use the home page’s press-release and custody distinctions.
  • For a city incident, request the record from Galena Police, Stockton Police, or East Dubuque Police, because municipal and Sheriff files are separate.
  • For a state-sentenced person, use the Illinois Department of Corrections search.
  • For federal prison custody, use the BOP locator; for immigration detention, use the ICE locator.
