Why This Reference Exists
Illinois makes many arrest-information categories available through public-record rules, but availability on a web page is not the same as availability in a file. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff maintains the county jail and county arrest material, while its jail information page is a separate operational source. Galena, Stockton, and East Dubuque police maintain their own municipal records. The Circuit Clerk and Judici provide the later court stage, while the Illinois Department of Corrections covers a separate state-custody population.
Those systems do not share one public search result. The pages here explain where a booking record or photo may live, what an official release actually proves, and when a written request is the more accurate route. The goal is to make the source and custody state clear, not to reproduce personal images.
What You Can Find Here
The county pages are organized around the public systems that the research could verify.
- The home page combines the booking-photo explanation, Sheriff records request, roster and feed findings, court path, IDOC distinction, and correction or sealing information.
- The Most Wanted page explains that no stable public Jo Daviess wanted list or warrant portal was verified, then gives the Sheriff, court, and safe tip routes.
- The Crime News page maps the Galena Gazette, regional television and radio, NWI Access, and the path from a story to the official record.
- Galena, Stockton, and East Dubuque pages describe each police agency, city records route, likely custody questions, and local reporting differences.
- State, federal, court, archive, and FOIA links are labeled by the type of record they can actually provide.
What This Site Cannot Do
Jo Daviess County Busted Mugshots is privately operated. It is not connected to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff, any city police department, the Illinois Department of Corrections, a court, or another government office. It cannot release a person from custody, confirm a live jail status, post bond, arrange a visit, send money, or retrieve an official file on a reader’s behalf.
- It cannot give individualized legal advice or decide whether a record qualifies for sealing or expungement.
- It cannot guarantee that an agency phone number, fee, page, or schedule remains unchanged.
- It cannot turn a news report or an unofficial index into a verified county booking record.
- It cannot identify a person from a protected juvenile, sealed, expunged, or uncertain record.
Only the office that controls a record can confirm its current status. Each source is labeled by the kind of record and custody information it may contain.
Search Partners
Some search boxes are supplied by outside providers. Those providers set their own pricing, terms, and result pages. If a visitor follows a tool to a paid signup, the private site may receive a referral fee that helps support publication. That relationship does not give the site control over the provider’s records, results, or data practices.
Official county, city, court, state, and federal sources remain the preferred way to verify a record. A partner tool is not an agency record and should not be treated as one.
